Our Virtual Estate Planning Process

Two Teams meetings, a little homework, and in-person mobile-notary signing — usually over 4–6 weeks.

Estate Planning That Fits Family Life

You do not need every answer before you begin. We help North Carolina and South Carolina families work through the people, decisions, and documents their plan needs. Planning meetings take place on Microsoft Teams; signing takes place in person with a mobile notary.

Most plans take about 4–6 weeks. You will have two Teams meetings and some homework, including gathering information, choosing the people you trust, and reviewing your documents. Timing depends on your decisions, the plan’s complexity, and signing availability.

Our 5-Step Process

Step 1: Request a Consultation

Complete our short consultation qualification form. Tell us where you live, what you want to protect, and whether virtual planning suits you. We follow up to discuss fit and next steps. Submitting the form is a request, not an instant calendar booking, and no webinar is required.

Step 2: Design Your Plan on Teams

At your design meeting, we discuss your family, property, and goals. For parents, this includes who would raise the children, who should manage their inheritance, and when they should receive control. The guardian and trustee do not have to be the same person. We confirm the agreed work and flat fee before proceeding.

Step 3: Complete Homework While We Draft

You provide the information and decisions needed for your plan. We prepare the agreed documents around those choices. If you are unsure about a guardian, trustee, or inheritance arrangement, bring the question to us rather than choosing an answer just to finish a form.

Step 4: Review Together on Teams

Your second Teams meeting is for reviewing the plan, explaining how the documents work, and resolving questions before signing. Read the drafts and raise any names, choices, or instructions that need attention. We confirm the signing arrangements when the documents are ready.

Step 5: Sign in Person With a Mobile Notary

A mobile notary helps with the in-person signing. We explain the signing instructions and any witness arrangements that must be confirmed for your documents; do not assume the notary automatically supplies witnesses. After signing, follow the instructions for keeping and using your documents and, for a trust plan, transferring the appropriate assets.

Usually 4–6 weeks, with two Teams meetings and an in-person signing appointment. Your plan’s timing is confirmed individually.

Why Families Choose Virtual Planning

The meetings are online, but the advice and decisions are personal.

  • No trip to a law office for your planning meetings. Join Teams from a private place where you can discuss your family’s information.
  • Two focused meetings, with time between them to consider choices and review the drafts.
  • An agreed flat fee and defined scope so you understand what you are hiring us to do.
  • Service for North Carolina and South Carolina families, including those outside the immediate Charlotte area.
  • In-person mobile-notary signing rather than assuming that every estate-planning document can be signed online.

What Is Included — and What You Handle

A Plan for Your Family

Attorney-prepared documents based on the people, responsibilities, and goals you discuss with us.

Transparent Trust Pricing

Trust-based plans generally range from $3,500–$5,500. The consultation helps determine the appropriate plan and agreed fee.

Two Teams Meetings

Design and review meetings give you space to discuss choices and understand the documents before signing.

Mobile-Notary Signing

In-person signing assistance, with document-specific signing and witness arrangements confirmed beforehand.

First-Deed Work

Trust-based plans include agreed first-deed or primary-residence work. Additional real estate work requires a separately confirmed scope.

Detailed Funding Instructions

We explain how to fund the trust for each type of asset. You handle the other transfers, institution paperwork, and beneficiary updates.

Trust funding is not a done-for-you service. We do not prepare institution letters, complete beneficiary updates, verify a funding-completion checklist, or provide ongoing funding reviews. Read our trust funding guidance and service boundaries before deciding what help you need.

What Affects the 4–6 Week Timeline?

Your Information

Contact details, property information, and existing documents help us understand the work required.

Your Decisions

Choosing guardians, trustees, agents, and inheritance instructions can take thoughtful discussion.

Draft Review

Timely review helps us resolve questions and make the agreed corrections before signing.

Signing Arrangements

Availability, document requirements, and the circumstances of everyone signing affect the appointment.

If you have an upcoming trip, surgery, or another deadline, tell us at the outset. Do not assume a rush turnaround or early-morning, evening, or weekend availability; we will confirm what is feasible.
